Public Works
The Department of Public Works consists of the Supervisor, the Assistant Supervisor and eight employees. They maintain some 21 parks, 18 miles of roads, alleyways and rights of way. In addition, they maintain the sewer system which feeds into the Moccasin Bend Sewer Treatment plant for which the town pays a sizable sewer treatment fee annually.
For the past five years, the Town has averaged 2 miles per year of street repaving. At this rate, all streets will be completely repaved each nine years. Minor repairs of pot holes and other deterioration are made as needed. Scenic and Ochs Highways are State and County roads respectively and it is their responsibility to maintain them properly.
Tennessee American Water Co., Electric Power Board, Chattanooga Gas, South Central Bell and Comcast are solely responsible for their services and should be contacted directly. However, it is their responsibility to repair completely any damages their services cause to Town property and the Town should be notified should a resident observe their failure to
do so.
