When is court?
Usually every other Tuesday. Call 821-1226 for more information.
What time is court?
Court begins at 5:00 PM at the Town Hall.
If I need to, can I change my court date?
Yes. You may speak to the officer that issued the ticket and he may change the court date.
What is the fine for speeding?
$4.00 for every mile per hour over the speed limit plus $50.00 court cost.
May I pay this in advance?
Yes. Make checks payable to the Town of Lookout Mountain and it can be mailed or brought to the Town Hall.
Can other fines be paid in advance as well?
Most cannot. You must appear in court.
If needed, can I get a boost from the police if I have my own cables?
No. We also cannot give a tow or push.
What is the procedure to receive a variance?
- Check to the Town of Lookout Mountain fifteen days before monthly Commission meeting for consideration of Variance - $150.00
- Six duplicate copies of adjoining property owners approval of Variance grant.
- Six duplicate copies of plans of structure and plot showing the proposed structure location on property, indicating distance from property line.
- The property owner must show that enforcement of the amended provision will not create undue hardship and damages.
- Granting of the Variance will not damage adjoining property owner by reason of being aesthetically not pleasing.
- Granting the Variance will not create a greater fire hazard.
What is the noise ordinance for the town?
For mechanical tools (lawnmowers, leaf blowers, etc.), the ordinance states on Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. or sunset and on Sunday from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. or sunset. The code in the book is located in Chapter 5 Section 10-501 and 502.
What are the hours for getting the gym key?
Community Center members will be allowed access to the gym. Contact Rick Dockery for membership information.
The hours are from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. The key has to be back at the police department no later then 11 p.m.
What are the rules for gym use?

All rules are posted at the police department. YOU MUST BE AT LEAST 21 TO CHECK OUT THE KEY.
Do we have a leash law ordinance in our town?
Yes. All dogs must be kept on a leash or in complete control of the owner at all times.
Are tickets issued for such violations
Yes. Our leash laws are strictly enforced.
Can the police unlock my car if I lock my keys inside?
Unfortunately, no we can't. Our insurance company will not allow us to unlock vehicles anymore. The car alarms and locks can be damaged and the liability is too high.
Will they call a locksmith for me?
Absolutely. We will do what we can do to assist you.
Does Lookout Mountain, TN dispatch and take calls for Lookout Mountain, GA?
No we do not. Walker Central in Lafayette takes all calls for Fairyland Police. Their number is 375-7810. (please make a note of this)
